Psalm 14:2 – The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
I still think God is searching for those who seek Him. That should encourage us! His eyes are well aware of a people who desire Him!
Psalm 24:5-6 – He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face.
What does it mean to seek God? The Hebrew word used here is Darash.
Here are a few definitions: to frequent a place, to resort to, to tread a place, to require, to seek God by prayer and worship.
Do we require God in such a way that our pursuit of Him has left an evident mark upon our daily lives?
When I saw the words “To tread a place,” I immediately thought about a trip Mike and I took to South Asia with Coreluv. While there, we were privileged to visit the cave where Thomas was imprisoned before he was martyred for the gospel.
On the ground of that prison cave sat a large boulder rock. On top of the rock were imprints of Thomas’s elbows and forearms. We were told he would kneel for hours daily beside that rock in prayer. God was his necessity! It was both inspiring and humbling to look at!
Lord, teach us to seek YOU like we can’t live without YOU!
