Matthew 9:17 – Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.
When entering into a NEW YEAR, I’m sure you’ve heard this saying, “Out with the OLD, and in with the NEW!”
The word NEW means FRESH. New also means to regenerate. When something is regenerated, it’s restored, repaired, resuscitated, and revived!
Much like a new year, our hearts can also be in need of regeneration. We were not meant to live off of yesterday’s wine in yesterday’s containers. We may need to shed off some old calluses collected along the way that have caused dry or cracked areas in our soul.
As we walk through a time of corporate fasting together, let us long for the closeness of our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ! May we also welcome Him to revive any areas of our hearts that may need fresh resuscitation!
As 2024 has dawned, ask yourself, “What condition is the container of my heart in?” “Is it cracked or dry?” “Am I living off of yesterday’s bread?” We’ve all been there! Take time during this new year to lay your heart before God in prayer. Allow Him to renew you and to fill you afresh with the wind of His Spirit! Then take that new wine and GO touch a world in need!
