1 John 2:24 – As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
What a practical verse! Simply put, when we remain in God’s WORD, we remain in GOD!
Why was this written? Let’s skip to verse 26.
These things I have written to you with reference to those who are trying to deceive you [seducing you and leading you away from the truth and sound doctrine]. –1 John 2:26
The Bible talks in detail about a deception and falling away from the truth that will take place. It’s likely that you know someone who has questioned their faith or walked away from God altogether!?!
This saddens me and reveals that somewhere along their journey they probably slowly, over time, began retracting their anchor from God’s truth.
It is so imperative that we remain tethered to the WORD OF GOD!
Remain means TO STAY!
It’s not too difficult to STAY abiding with Christ!
Deuteronomy 30:11 and verse 14 say, “For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach… But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.”
I love that! It moves me to fall more and more in love with the Bible because, in reality, it’s me falling deeper and deeper into JESUS! (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. –John 1:1)
It’s ALIVE!
It breathes!
It speaks!
It SECURES!!!
There is no one else I’d rather be anchored to!
