Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere— in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
It’s comforting to know that the Holy Spirit gives us the capability, courage, and boldness to be a witness for Him!
This past weekend, Nations House of Prayer hosted its first food drive for our community in the parking lot of our building! Many people were still without power and food after Hurricane Beryl blew through Houston, including those in a senior living facility right on the other side of our parking lot.
As I studied Acts 1:8, I read that the uttermost part of the earth (as some versions say) is referred to as the farthest, the lowest, or the last in rank or grade. That struck my heart!!
We’ve dedicated the past 13 years to countries that are some of the poorest and oftentimes last to receive aid and the good news of the gospel. Today, our building and local missions base in the Third Ward of Houston stands among the poor, homeless, and many facing dark addictions.
Mike and I heard a quote some years back that never left our hearts, “THE HUNGRY DON’T HAVE EARS.”
As the body of Christ, when we meet the physical needs of people (the widow, orphan, poor, the oppressed), their ears will be more readily opened to hear the gospel!
Our Coreluv and Nations team saw this in action during the food drive. We strategically set up a prayer tent at the end of the food line. Almost everyone who walked onto our property to receive food was also open to receive prayer!
So many hearts were touched, and beautiful seeds of the gospel were planted! We definitely felt God’s compassion and power to be a witness for Him!
Let’s continue to take His Spirit into the Uttermost!
