2 Kings 8:6 (NLT) – “Is this true?” the king asked her. And she told him the story. So he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence.
God is a God of RESTORATION!
Restore means to bring back; to repair or renovate so as to return it to its original condition.
In this passage the Shunammite woman was totally restored! She was the woman who built a resting place for Elisha the prophet. Also the woman whose son Elisha restored back to life!
One day, Elisha spoke to the Shunammite woman, saying, “Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.”
The woman obeyed and moved to the land of the Philistines for seven years. After returning, she had to go before the king to appeal to get her house and her property back.
Miraculously, the king restored ALL that was hers, even ALL of the proceeds from the field!
What the enemy tried to steal, God returned! Incredible!!
The Shunammite woman valued generosity and hospitality! Her actions proved it! She was generous to God by being hospitable to His servant, Elisha. She provided food and lodging to him in a time of need, and God returned the favor!
Can you think of ways God has restored to you what the enemy stole? For many of us it was giving us beauty for ashes (our salvation!) What a stunning restoration!
Maybe it was a financial blessing for blessing someone less fortunate?!
Whatever the case, God keeps record of your generosity! He will watch over you, and He cares about bringing justice to situations you might face!
“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…” –Joel 2:25
